Atlantic Sunset

The Costa da Morte

Details

The Costa da Morte, located in the northwest of Galicia, is one of the most mysterious and captivating regions of the Atlantic coast. Its name evokes ancient legends of shipwrecks and mystery, but it also describes a land of wild beauty, dramatic cliffs, and secluded beaches. This corner of the province of A Coruña blends untamed nature, a deep maritime history, and a strong cultural identity that enchants all who visit.

The area includes a number of municipalities stretching from Malpica to Muros, such as Laxe, Camariñas, Muxía, Cee, Corcubión, Fisterra, Dumbría, Zas, Cabana de Bergantiños, Carnota, and Vimianzo, among others. Each of these towns offers its own charm: centuries-old fishing villages, coastal trails that connect lighthouses and viewpoints, and a cuisine rich in fresh seafood.

One of the region’s greatest natural spectacles is its breathtaking sunsets. Especially from Cape Fisterra — once believed to be the end of the world — or from the cliffs of O Ézaro and Touriñán, the sun seems to sink slowly into the Atlantic, painting the sky in shades of orange, red, and violet. A magical moment that makes every evening an unforgettable experience for travelers.
